Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours and provided supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor. JOHN F. KENNEDY, speech, Aug. 30, 1960

Right to Work? Not Really
Missouri is trying right now to pass Right to Work law. Right to Work is something that can not be passed. This law is one that lower wages for everyone. On average it would lower your wages by $72 a week. So roughly that is an average of $3,744 year. I know that might not seem like a lot but it is roughly about 98 boxes of diapers or 11 car payments, or even 18 trips to the grocery store if you are spending $200 a week. That is just over a one year period. Right to Work weakens unions and collective bargaining. There are already laws in place to protect those people that do not want to join a union. Also Right to Work endangers safety and health standards that protect workers on the job by weakening unions that help to ensure workers safety for tougher safety rules and regulations. Right to Works law take union backing off of the bargaining table. In effect, government limits the right of employers to set the terms and conditions of employment by telling companies and their employees what they can and can not bargain for. It should be a freedom that labor and owners have to agree to there own conditions set. It just does not seem like it would be a Right to Work at all but a way for the government to cripple the working people.
