Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours and provided supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor. JOHN F. KENNEDY, speech, Aug. 30, 1960

Another Reason Why Unions Are Still Important
Even today woman and minorities do not get fair treatment in the work place. They are getting paid less and getting taken advantage of. This is something that should not still be happening. With the age that we are now in they need their voices to be heard. Equal right in the workplace, pay, benefits. With organizing our workplace, everyone voice will be heard and be valued input for what we need. Also joining a union means your job is protected.
