It Is Our Voice To Keep It Alive

The earning tax that is in Kansas City is so important. It is a 1% earnings tax on all wages, salaries and commissions earned in the City. This tax does not apply to social security income, or to pensions, trusts or investments. Without it, the City will be required to drastically reduce police and fire protection, ambulance service, and cut back on street maintenance. Maintenance of our parks, boulevards and community centers will be reduced. Trash collection and recycling will, by necessity, become fee-based. Funding for many arts, cultural, and social service programs would be eliminated. I know, I know you are thinking that it will not affect you. But it will. It is like a domino affect. The Earning tax revenue accounts for nearly 40% of Kansas City’s general fund. Without the earning tax police and fire departments would be cutting back, so then Kansas City would not need rehabbing or new buildings to be built. Without the work on the building then there would be no maintenance job. So it will get back to us the construction worker if the tax does not pass. This is not about if you are a union or non-union member of the different trades it is something that will effect us all. So remember on VOTE YES ON APRIL 5.
