Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours and provided supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor. JOHN F. KENNEDY, speech, Aug. 30, 1960

College vs. Union Training
On average college cost $14,000 a year for a four year public college and $7,000 a year for a two year community college. Another thing that you have to figure in is your room and board. Pretty much you are already spending your hard earned money before you even make it. Who knows even after you graduate if there will be a job even available that you just went to college for. Verses if you receive union training you work while you learn. You start out as a apprentice at apprentice wages. You will receive benefits after only 6 months of work. You will receive specialized training and also get paid to learn the trade. School on average is once every couple of months were you will learn different aspects of the trade. Just a little food for thought. Shell out $56,000+ for a four year college or $14,000+ for a two years of college or get paid to learn a specialized trade.
